About

Made close to home.

Him started from a small frustration: almost everything sold as premium menswear here was designed for a European winter and shipped into a climate that punishes it. Heavy linings. Fused collars. Wool that traps everything and breathes nothing.

So the brief was narrow from the start. Make fewer things. Make them in weights that work in Lagos. Cut them so they still read as tailoring rather than as leisurewear, and finish them the slow way, because there is no faster way that holds.

Everything is made within a few kilometres of where it is sold. That is not a marketing position — it is the only way to keep the fit consistent, correct a pattern in a week rather than a season, and pay the people who actually cut and sew.

We publish what we learn in the journal: what a fabric weight really means, how to tell a good white shirt from an expensive one, and which twelve pieces would cover most of your year.
